Caesar's Coin
Een verhalend gedicht
Inleiding
Dit gedicht wordt een langdurig literair project. Ik zal stukken toevoegen, verwijderen en aanpassen wanneer ik daar de tijd voor heb. Verwacht hier niet dat iets de definitieve versie is, want dit gedicht zal in feite meegroeien en zich ontwikkelen samen met mijn poëtische vaardigheden en ervaringen.

How oft one binds his heart and mind and pen, when he records his many thoughts and then does not within him grow that joy and love which art and song does bring from God above. For long the World’s vain judge me vexed has. I long’d for sight and thus wrote plain, such as the learned diplomat does tie their tongue; How very lost I was when I was young.
Upon the Holy Ghost I now do cry, with heaviness my heart did often sigh: O Lord the Dove, make clear my heart! And guide my timid mind, towards that art; That I may speak with fairer tongue, and write with colour, joy and holy, godly sight! Make free my pen and break the chains that hold my song and verse from seeking that true Gold!
Of him who laden was with sin and guilt, who had his house on sand and gravel built. Indeed he did not heed those warning words and ran away from them that fly like birds. A lovely call did sound from high above yet he none other than himself did love. But still he found that secret haven there, and found the one who will his spirit bear. I thus will sing and tell of his new form which he receiv’d and was with wings reborn! Candles softly burn’d their yellow glow, their little warmth did through the cold room flow. The wooden walls a golden colour took as he sat and through the window look’d. He could not sleep and rest his weary mind, he could not any peace in his heart find. His soul was as the clouds above the sea, which stretch’d as far and wide as he could see. The beach on which he had his cabin made a sea of forest green along was laid.
